First time we’ve stayed in such a place - always been very skeptical. But we were completely surprised. Kids had a great time and we had a relaxing few days. Couldn’t ask for more. Feeding the farm animals, picking your eggs for breakfast …
We stayed there for 2 nights in November 2023. Room 304. The first impression was quite good, as the outside area is really nice and designed with small details, but other areas could be improved. Our room was clean and there was nothing to complain about except for the shower, which wasn't sealed anywhere on the door. I can only report good things about the service. For example, we didn't like the fact that although there are toys on offer, most of them are in really bad condition. A lot of things are just getting old and look careless. Important details are missing, especially in the play barn, which as it is doesn't offer much play value because there's nothing there that can actually be played with. In the Happy Club, which is unfortunately only open for hours and where there are actually toys and games, it should be cleaned out and renewed. The toy was partly worn and dirty. The go-kart track - a really nice idea - unfortunately the vehicles are in great need of repair. The sand toys were also broken almost everywhere. Unfortunately, the food didn't convince us either, as there wasn't much of a selection, especially for children. There was a really poor selection, especially at lunchtime. But breakfast was always good. Unfortunately, I don't think the price-performance ratio is right here. We paid €370 a night for 2 adults + 1 child of 2.5 years and unfortunately it wasn't worth it. I also somehow missed the relaxation factor for the parents. There was no place to sit comfortably and relax. Everything was so separate from the rooms and you weren't allowed to take food or drink anywhere, so you always had to decide between staying in the dining area or taking the child to the play area, where there wasn't even comfortable seating for the parents.
We were in the Landhuus for the second time and found it very nice again. We really enjoyed the food, the service was extremely courteous and friendly, the rooms were spotlessly clean and the childcare during the meal was also great.
I can particularly recommend the wellness room where Ivon offers great massages. We enjoyed half an hour every day and it was very, very relaxing.
I think the price and performance are absolutely fair here. The wine tasted very good, the selection of food was sufficient despite the small number of guests and there was nothing to complain about in terms of taste.
It was a really nice weekend for the children, including riding and getting a tractor driving license. Unfortunately, the weather was very wet, so we couldn't use the great outdoor area as much. But nobody can do anything about that.
We'll definitely come back again :)
A cozy country house. Food selection not so extensive, but sufficient and tasty. Room ok. A bit spartan, but beds are not my thing. Childcare top. Totally nice activities on offer. Bake bread on sticks, ride in a carriage, ride a horse, feed the animals. The massages were also good.
We stayed in the hotel for 5 days in August 2023.
However, the expectations we had for over 400 euros per night (for 2 adults and 2 children) were only met to a very limited extent. It may be because it's the holidays, but unfortunately the price-performance ratio isn't right.
Unfortunately, the food was a disaster on some days, we didn't really know what to eat and sometimes children weren't offered their own meals (in a family hotel???).
To be fair, it has to be said that on some days it was quite tasty, but overall the quality was rather mixed and it depended on the chef's form on the day. The breakfast, however, was always very good.
The service is tried hard, there is nothing to complain about.
Unfortunately, there is very little on offer in terms of programming; there is no program/entertainment options for adults.
Overall, I think the children felt quite comfortable, but unfortunately we cannot recommend it for adults who have no connection to riding / equestrian sports.
In a direct comparison, we can highly recommend the Familotel Sonnenpark in Villingen.
Unfortunately we won't be coming back.
Very nice family farm with a riding stable for the children. Riding lessons for beginners to advanced riders. Happy Club. Covered wagon rides, stick bread by the fire, feeding the animals. For parents there is a fireplace room and a small beauty/massage salon.
Would love to come back.
Familotel weekends are great. The children are happy and you don't have to worry about anything. This farm is small and family-run. This means everything is a little smaller, but there is something for everyone.
We were there with our children from Tuesday to Sunday in August!
A little summary:
Location: it's really very rural and it's a beautiful farm. There is nothing around but meadow and forest. Great for switching off!
Rooms: the rooms are a bit old, but they fit in really well with the farm. Highly modern wouldn't really fit! It has everything you need! I would particularly like to emphasize that there were mosquito protection on the windows in the separate children's room and in the living area! Unfortunately not in the bathroom - but that would be really bad at a high level.
Play options: really great for children. There are all sorts of things (bouncy castle, trampoline, playground, feeding animals, bobby cars, etc). Above all, I thought it was great that a pool was built in the warm temperatures. I just found it strange that the “Mini Disco” was at 9am. Normally it's always in the evening before dinner!?
Staff: incredibly friendly. Above all, Julia from the restaurant: she sees everything and remembers who likes to drink what! Very clever and really great.
Food: unfortunately that was one of the topics! The breakfast was great, but unfortunately it's a shame that the orange juice in the jug was only put out on the weekend and not during the week! Lunch is ok - you'll be full. But the dinner was really bad at times: out of 5 evenings it was only good twice! Once there was also Asian food, which almost no child ate (so the baguette was gone relatively quickly, which is usually enough). Differences are also made between weekdays and weekends and that is not possible! We pay €400 a day even during the week, so you can expect a consistently high level!
What really annoyed me was that some of the Corona rules still exist. Always take fresh plates, always disinfect your hands, always take fresh glass (do not use the one for the tap). And children are not allowed to serve themselves at the buffet - parents should be there and put the things on the child's plate. Sorry, but I'm on vacation too and I'm happy to just sit and eat. And I have to run along every time to put food on my son's plate even though he's old enough and knows not to put things on his plate with his hands? I think the whole thing is really outdated!
The labeling at the buffet in the evening was also a bit confusing: it said beef steak, but it was clearly horse. It said lamb steak, but was it pork?
I think it's good that the staff also helps themselves from the buffet (before so much is thrown away), but since the meal times are only 1.5 hours, it would perhaps be a bit more professional if the hotel staff helped themselves after the buffet closed (for the hotel guests) served! Because at times there was a total traffic jam because the buffet room is not big. Staff and guests wanted to take food!
In summary, I can say for those who really don't care that much about food, definitely go - you'll like it! For those who have already been to other Familotels and loved the food (including us) and who paid the same price (including us), I advise against it. Because you will be disappointed. The children have had a great time, but we parents in particular are more likely to relax in a great atmosphere and delicious food! It's just the little things that often count! Unfortunately we won't be going there anymore because it's just not worth the money for us! There are other Familotels for exactly the same price, but they are just great!
